How to Maintain your Jewelry

Maybe every woman is a fan of diamond, and they love diamond for its great value, gorgeous appearance and high collecting value.

Diamond jewelry has been taken by people as the perfect gifts for their beloved. It can be collected as the precious gift for a life time. However, have you realized the importance of maintaining your diamond jewelry and do you really know how to maintain it?
Diamond jewelry is so precious and favored by people thanks to its amazing sheen, but if you don’t take it with care, it would get fade and loose the original shine.
Jewelry made of diamond is easy to get loose after a long wear. So you have to make regular check and fix of it to enhance its firmness.
If it is possible, try to clean it often. If you think turning to a professional expert to clean is not practical, you can do it by yourself at home.

If you really want to clean it at home, you can choose the soap cleaning approach. So you should prepare some soft liquid soap and lukewarm water. First of all, put the diamond in the soap liquid for several minutes, and then brush it gently and carefully by using a little brush and make some bubbles. After that, you can wash it with the lukewarm water you prepared. Finally, you can wipe it by means of a piece of soft cotton cloth. During the whole process, you should be careful enough not to make any diamond lost.
Make a solution by mixing cold water and ammonia in equal proportion. Keep your diamond jewelry in to it for 30 minutes. Brush it
using a toothbrush and then wash with lukewarm water. Dry it using a soft cloth.

 Good things to do: -

- Apply lotion, cosmetics, hairspray and perfume before dressing in jewelry.
- When undressing, wipe each piece with a clean soft cloth to remove oils and perspiration.
- Store in a fabric-lined box, separately or individually-wrapped in tissue to prevent scratches.
- Clean your jewelry frequently to avoid the build up of dirt, which may hasten wear. Ask us how to clean items properly.
- Have JewelSmiths inspect your valuables at least annually for any loose settings, faulty links, etc. A prong that is loose, worn or catches on fabric may cause the stone to fall out of the setting. Have the item checked by us immediately if you suspect a problem.
- When not wearing your jewelry, place each item in a separate soft compartment or container. If cluttered together, jewelry can become scratched.

Avoid:

* avoid wearing jewelry when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise.

* Avoid heavy blows to your diamond. Even though it's among the hardest of all materials, diamonds can chip if struck at the right angle.

* avoid exposing jewelry to household cleaning products.
* avoid exposing jewelry to chlorine swimming pools or hot tubs.
